This release includes two major changes:
It’s built on a significant new release of the ESP8266 core that has a lot of underlying improvements. I’ve been running it for awhile and have worked out all the issues I encountered.
A significant issue with excessive heap usage when processing or changing the configuration was uncovered and fixed. This explained most of the exceptions and heap degredation problems that have been related to poor WiFi. It doesn’t necessarily fix the WiFi problems, although it does fix some, but it does reduce collateral damage significantly and gives the underlying lwip a window to timeout things and clean up.
