Somewhere I read that when a CT is clamped to a live cable but not to the IotaWatt itself it was recommended one short out the CT plug. Can’t recall why. Anyway, I have all 14 inputs in use atm but now want to mount the IotaWatt in a more secure/safe spot. I will have to disconnect each input to do this. My question is, how long can I disconnect each of these input without having to short out each pin?
If I should short out each CT do I simple wrap tin foil around the pin?
Assuming you have Echun or AcuCTs, the protection diodes should protect them indefinitely. The shorting procedure is for unprotected CTs or those interested in a fail safe backup to the diodes.
