Plain ESP8266 with flashed firmware but without IoTaWatt pcb - dry run possible?

Hello All!

If I would flash the standalone ESP8266 module (no IoTaWatt pcb attached/soldered) with the firmware.bin form github (esptool.py … write_flash 0 firmare.bin), would it be possible to play with the IoTaWatt web page/software in the let’s say ‘dry run mode’?
