System becomes unavailable on network

Hi.

Been using the IoTaWatt for a couple of months. Maybe every couple of weeks it becomes unavailable on my network. Power on / off fixes the issue.

I have changed power supplies + micro usb cable - no change.

Should I try a new micro SD card? What is the process for setting up a new card?

Other thoughts?

These problems are always WiFi related. It is not related to your SD card. Looking at your message log I see that for the first two weeks it was connected on channel 2 and worked solid. On Sept 14 your router switched to channel 10 and that’s when your problems started. Your RSSI is healthy but there are other factors that can cause disconnects and poor communication.

From your timezone UTC+12 I’m guessing you are in NZ. I don’t know the approved channels there but channels 1,6 and 11 are non-overlapping and the preferred in North America. All of the others have sone overlap with adjacent channels can be subject to problems. You might try fixing your router to one of those, or channel 2 that was working well early on.

Yep, in NZ - we can use channel 1-13. I have now fixed to channel 2 - will see how that goes… if it disconnects again I will try channel 1, 6 or 11.
