I’ve been using my unit for years with a HA integration and love it. Yesterday, received a notification the power went out (through HA). Upon further inspection, noticed all my inputs were reading 0, including my VT that came with the unit. Tested it, 0 volts. No big deal, a new 9v AC adapter is a few bucks on amazon. New one came today and reads 9.13v on my multimeter. Plugged it in, still 0v, restarted the unit, still 0v. Just went ahead and uninstalled it to see if a solder pad or something came loose, nope, everything looks fine. Logs don’t show anything abnormal, just not getting any 9V input using my new reference transformer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Could be a few things:
First I want to make sure the new VT is putting out voltage as plugged into the socket that you use when connected to the IoTaWatt. If you tested it in the kitchen then plugged it into a basement plug, it’s possible that plug is dead.
Usually, a nominal 9V AC transformer puts out around 11 volts with no load. Is it possible that you bought a 9C DC transformer from Amazon? If so, that won’t work and I’ve got a bunch of open box/used AC adapters that I can sell you for five bucks and shipping.
Although you visually inspected the solder pads, there are other components in the circuit. Try configuring input 14 or 13 as a VT and connecting it to the corresponding three-phase input on the opposite end (be sure to unplug any CT plugged into the corresponding 3.5mm input).
Never occurred to me that the reference voltage is a 9V AC source. DUH. Totally bought a 9V DC transformer, not an AC voltage reducer. Thank you for such a quick response!
