This is a generic topic, not directly related to IotaWatt - if it’s inappropriate please feel free to remove. But I thought back to this as I was reviewing recent events here.
This may be of interest to those who wonder “Why Open Source?”
I found a DVD in my library titled “Revolution OS” which documents the GNU / Linux story back in the 1980s. Fascinating in its own right.
The interviews make mention of a 1997 paper titled “The Cathedral and The Bazaar”. It took me a few hours to read (part of the DVD, cannot export)

Anyway I don’t know if IotaWatt benefitted from the “many eyeballs make bugs shallow” idea in practice, but I’m sure glad it will not ever be stuck in obscurity.
Enjoy!
