The previous inputs setup shows a Battery_L1 input, but the latest does not. What happened to it?
Also, the Battery_L1 input should have “allow negative values” checked.
I don’t know. I created it prior to taking the screenshot and it is there and displaying now under status, even though it didn’t appear in the previous screenshot. I’ve ticked negative values now as per your post.
That looks good and it seems to match the PWC numbers pretty close. PWC seems to include any battery charge in HOME USE, and they are a little lower that IoTaWatt, perhaps because they are a little higher in SOLAR GENERATION. It’s hard to tell when they round to 100 Wh. I expect that to be consistent they will report low HOME USE when running off the battery. Those are real-time kW, and with solar probably changing by the second, so I’m more interested in reconciling the kWh over a day and also comparing to the meter.
So, when the signed Battery_L1 has been in place for a whole day, let’s look at this accounting from PWC:
By contrast, could you use Graph+ to show the same day, using the Watts metric to plot:

BTW, I was away for a couple of days over the weekend and when I got back, I noticed that the Iotawatt hadn’t been uploading to PVOutpout from 4.15pm on Friday. It was online and communicating with the home network so I had to restart it and then everything was working from that point. I thought it was a coms issue with PVOutput but when I look at the data for the period, it appears no data was recorded.
The message log doesn’t tell me why it stopped and only goes back to when I restarted it on Sunday. Is there anywhere else in the system can I look to work out why it suddenly stopped?
Are you saying that those are the only messages in the message log? Can you download the file /iotawatt/iotamsgs.txt using the file manager?
Looking at the data for Nov 22 it all looks good except for the battery charge/discharge.

While the PWC sees more energy in and out of the battery, the differential is about the same with a net 2-3 kWh charge. This may be the PWC measuring the actual DC to the battery vs the AC in/out of the inverter, so the efficiency of the charger/inverter may be the key. When I look at the plot of battery charge, it looks like about 4 hours of 2000 Watts with some slight charging of maybe 200 Watts or so for 8 hours. I don’t see 15 kWh of charge.
I found it confusing with Battery_Export being energy coming from the battery while Grid_Export is energy going to the grid. My feeling is that it’s backwards. Conceptually there is little difference between the Grid and the Battery. Both will accept energy exports and return energy imports. The only real difference is that the battery cannot run a deficit budget. For the sake of clarity, I would suggest changing the name of Battery_Export to Battery_Import, and Battery_Charge to Battery_Export.

I also reached out to the guy from Tesla who came and inspected my system. He confirmed the conduit arrangement is as I described in one of my earlier posts. He also confirmed that the Single Phase Solar is on L1, not L3 as I have it assigned in Iotawatt, so I have changed that to L1.
This is what I got back from Telsa this afternoon:
Yes from what we see the single phase Solar is on L1 red, which would make sense so that the Solar would stay on in a backup.
The 3 x Solar CT’s we saw 8kw on L1, while 3.3kw on L2 and 3.3kw on L3. The 3 phase solar would be equal on each phase (3.3kw), with L1 also having the 5kw so 8kw.
CT A = L1, CT B = L2, CT C =L3.
You are correct that the Powerwall and backup circuits are on L1.

In your latest display, the IoTaWatt has solar at 3.0 kW while the PWC has it at 3.6kW.
This opens up a new question of whether your voltage reference is on L1. Understand that L1, L2, L3 does not necessarily correspond to Phase A, B and C. Phase A is defined as the phase to which the VT is connected.
Can you show the inputs setup display that has the phase assignments?
No clue about the outage. From the log it just looks like a power failure. Is it possible the USB power was disconnected or turned off?
You should remove the “upload history from” in your PVoutput setup. That is only used when initially setting up or if you want to change your history. It causes the history to upload every time the unit restarts. You are running into the rate limit and uploading redundant data over several hours because of the rate limit.
You might check the CT on the battery cable to insure it is fully closed and has no impurities on the core mating surfaces.
No, we were away that weekend and there are no backup incidents on the PW2 that would indicate an outage. I’ll untick the upload history as suggested. I only ticked it when I was trying to reload the missing data to PVOutput before I realised it hadn’t been recorded.
That’s not all that’s off. The phase assignments are wrong. Your solar used to match the PWC. Now it’s off since you changed the phase on the single-phase inverter. I suspect the battery is assigned to the wrong phase as well.
I’ll change the inverter back but 'm really confused as to how it can be on L3 when the Tesla dudes are telling me it’s on L1. That said, I do agree that it looked more correct on L3.
It was established way back that your phase assignments are:
L1 - phase A
L2 - phase C
L3 - phase B
If you look at this from more than two weeks ago:
You see that the power being exported on L2 is much more than is being produced on any phase of the three-phase inverter. It’s clear that the Single-Phase inverter is exporting on L2/phase C as well.
This does not agree with what the PW guy is saying, and at this point I have to wonder if your IoTaWatt mains CTs are actually on the cables indicated by your names. In other words, I don’t know if your L1 - Red is actually on the red phase, L2 - White on the white etc.
When I look at the PWC wiring, the wires going to the backup are white then red at the very end. It’s very confusing.
There are a lot of variables here and three different sets of phase identifiers (L1, L2, L3 / Red, White, Blue / Phase A, B, C) and now PW is talking about their CTs A, B and C.
You need to get in there, double check everything and make a line drawing.
I was thinking about that this morning before I read your reply and had changed the single phase inverter to Phase C. I was thinking that L1 = Phase A, L2 =Phase B and L3 = Phase C until I read your earlier reply. This is how it looks now:

When I connected them, I did them one by one. e.g. I clamped the Red L1 phase, labelled it, connected it to the Iotawatt and checked the input page to ensure each phase was correctly connected. I’ll recheck it later today if I get a chance. In terms of clamping the solar, I was standing with the Tesla installer when he was attaching his CTs and confirmed which wire corresponded to each solar input. The double check there is that Tesla clamped the same wires for their CTs as I did. I made sure I was a couple of inches down the wire and away from other CT clamps to make sure there was no cross-interference. The only CT I had to work out myself was the PW2 wire.
