Buy iotawatt anywhere? (or release latest BOM / PCB)

boy do i love my 2x iotawatts! They are so reliable, provide me such stable and accurate data every 5sec!

im SO sad to see this post (but i do get the reasons, and i am hopeful! as i have followed the iotawatt production challenges over the years):

2x questions, please:
1- Is there any place, anywhere, that has stock of the IotaWatt unit (or a full kit)? (or has anyone had one delivered recently, and if so from where) (i do realize production has stopped, but im not clear if iotawatt is produced elsewhere maybe, or if overeasy was the only source)

2- Does @overeasy have any plans to release the latest PCB and more importantly the latest bill of materials maybe?

(i have seen: IoTaWatt/Hardware at master · boblemaire/IoTaWatt · GitHub but no BOM that i can see there,
I also have seen the excellent work by this user, but i was hoping for the offical parts/BOM so it matches to 2x i have - or better yet id love to order a kit to have as backup, and im willing to pay much more than list):

thanks

a thank you / I love iotawatt pict (just a few of 100s of visualizations I have from IotaWatt’s great data):

As previously stated, the small business environment in the US is now untenable. I’m working with a third party to produce and sell the latest V6.4 unit in another country. This should result in wider availability.

At this time, the schematics, gerbers and BOM are not intended for publication. They only benefit counterfeiters in Asia that do not respect the terms of the open software license.

while that is probably very true, they also benefit others like me - who don’t know much, but like to tinker with things and like the diy approach (which also does not bring any money to you). Iotawatt was my first SMD solder - very scary at first - but it was one of the more satisfying things in a long time for me (even though the final product is not there yet)

thank you for the reply, This helps cause I had been searching everywhere thinking that the hardware was all open source too. ( i totally get your reasoning for not publishing it).

I also get that its not just as simple as, hey why cant he just jack up (double) the price of the iotawatt to offset this new uncertainty, as that could leave you with much un-sold inventory / other biz risks as well.

so i will keep an eye out for any announcements re: new stock!
(im really looking to buy a 3rd iotawatt, as well as a 4th to keep on hand as a backup) i currently have 2x iotawatt + 1x emporia

(Which makes it so every circuit is monitored with some overlap as well - but would love to make it 3x iota!)

more why i love iota: good luck finding another local first power monitoring solution that can enable things like this (press play button on the animated gif:); (is ~5sec interval feed into grafana live, and sent to graphite as well)

I might be moving soon and I’d like to buy a new one for the new house. I will also be waiting in anticipation of a new line that ships to USA.

Can I ask here will there be Australia kits available or are any available? I need possible to in future, at least one. I’m sorry to hear this project is in trouble, it works great at my friend’s house and I’m sad I didn’t buy at the time but was poor. I need one for house and next year one for the shed.

We are working on moving manufacturing out of the small-business-hostile USA to Canada. Expect availability third or fourth quarter.

Glad to hear that there is progress on moving manufacturing.
Is there anything we can do to help the process?
Pre-purchase or something else.

Thank you so much that actually aligns with when I’ll have money to do the project, 1 for home, 1 for shed later next year. Need a new distro board on home to fit it all maybe or at least things like shellies, etc. Thanks so much for all your hard work and continuing a great project and I’m really sorry about USA’s stance. I take it 2 iotawatt is easy to integrate into home assistant? Could be possibly 3 phase later. Solar so far and I’ll leave one spare for battery. Shelly em3 with contactor is on hot water. Would be cool if they had wifi ct setups powered by 12v or something for other components if you ever wanted another project. Eg run it for finding out how much a light uses cuz my spotlights don’t have a CT or internal reading and Mercator doesn’t read on the inline controller. But I understand if it’s too expensive cuz of our electrical safety laws.

Jumping in here, really love the idea of using IoTaWatt with Home Assistant, a solid setup!

Great news, adding my happiness here to watch the thread

How about Kickstarter?

Here’s hoping that you’ll be able to arrange to have IoTaWatt manufactured elsewhere. It certainly looks like the best product out there for doing what I want.

this is sad news.

I have a unit purchased in ~2021 and it has been rock solid.

Im not sure what rev or version unit i have, but based on the current ones, is there any meaningful differences between the one i have and the newer ones?

If there is stock left, I might look to purchase a couple more for my next house. But knowing if there are any differences would be great.

I remember a thread a while ago about an option to daisy chain boards together and have just the 1 main unit, with a few slave boards to get more inputs. I liked this idea, but im not sure if it went anywhere.

Is there much stock left of the units?

Many thanks, and i hope you can get production going again.

The current firmware is compatible with all versions of the hardware. The only significant change in the hardware was the addition of auxiliary voltage input jacks to allow using channels 13 and/or 14 for voltage reference. This is used mostly for direct reference three-phase.

There are no units currently available. It is possible that there will be more units available from another manufacturer, although I’m not convinced that will come to be.

Hey mate, thanks for the reply.

Sad to hear that you dont think there will be more units in the future. Your unit truly is flawless.

I will hope that more come onto the market in the future.

Many thanks.

I’ve been waiting to see what would happen, but it looks like I’ll take on a bigger project and get some boards made and some components on the way and see how I go at making one myself. This will be a first for me with anything like this, but I’m open to learn.

Now being fourth quarter 2025, is there still an expectation of new units coming available soon? As much as I would enjoy the process of building DIY IoTaWatt V5.0, I would prefer to purchase from @overeasy to have the professional case, as well as to benefit from the latest ESP32 version 0.3 work (labeled by @overeasy as V6.4 in a comment from March 24, 2025).

I have viewed this forum on and off for a few years, and have always been impressed by the willingness to share and the community that has been created. What a great project to have shared with the world. Thank you!
